GAO: IRS' IT system needs fixing.

A recent GAO report found 39 information security control weaknesses.

In 2002, the GAO reported 53 information security weaknesses at the IRS. The IRS has since corrected or mitigated 32 of those.

In addition to new security concerns, the report identifies weaknesses in service continuity and business resumption RESUMPTION. To reassume; to promise again; as, the resumption of payment of specie by the banks is general. It also signifies to take things back; as the government has resumed the possession of all the lands which have not been paid for according to the requisitions of the law, and the  plans.
