and thought-provoking questions for their parents will be on the agenda today at the International Festival Kid Jam at West Hills Church.

West Hills Church, Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem and Lord's Love Church are hosting their first joint community event on the West Hills Church campus where they all meet for Sunday services.

``The event is primarily to entertain and provide some fun. There are a lot of bad things going on in the world,'' said the Rev. Dave Drummond of West Hills Church. ``And so we wanted to plan something for the kids to have a good time with games and prizes. We want the community to come and have a good time.''

Volunteers from the Spanish-language Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem, the Korean-language Lord's Love Church and West Hills Church have been planning the event for six months. Despite some language barriers during the committee meetings, the three congregations got to know each other during the process.

``It's been really fun and interesting, watching the committee work and bringing in their cultural backgrounds,'' Drummond said. ``Of course, I knew the other pastors but the congregations usually just waved at each other before.''

While providing a fun time for kids is the uppermost goal, Drummond and his colleagues, the Revs. William Carcamo and Howard Kim, hope their three churches get some needed community exposure.

``Many people do not know that we are here,'' said Kim of Lord's Love Church. ``We want to be a bridge from church life to helping people with community services. The church exists to serve the community. We reach out to the glory of God. We reach out to the congregation. We reach out to the world.''

The day's third goal is to educate the community about the Christian faith. All three pastors will be on hand to talk with interested parents about the importance of religious education.

``There are so many social and family problems now. People tell me, 'I have money. I have a good business. I'm a good person. I don't need Jesus Christ Jesus Christ: see Jesus.

.' But they don't have peace inside,'' said Carcamo of Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem. ``Then why do they call religious people when someone is dying? Jesus is all the time. This is my point. This society needs Jesus Christ.''

, Drummond is hoping for a spark of curiosity about the Bible. If the kids are interested and curious about church, Drummond said, they ask their parents to take them to church nowadays, not the other way around.

``I remember when religious people came to El Salvador El Salvador (ĕl sälväthōr`), officially Republic of El Salvador, republic (2005 est. pop. 6,705,000), 8,260 sq mi (21,393 sq km), Central America.  to teach me about Jesus Christ. International Festival Kid Jam will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. West Hills Church holds a 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday. Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem and Lord's Love Church hold 11 a.m. Sunday services. All three churches meet at 7475 Fallbrook Ave., West Hills. Call (818) 887-6227.
