GALLERY TO SPOTLIGHT FAMED ARTIST'S WORK.

Work by an artist touted as a ``modern-day Norman Rockwell'' is scheduled to highlight the opening Saturday of an art gallery at the Cobblestone Cottage.

Cobblestone owner Kathy Allie said there is high demand for Thomas Kinkade For the American admiral, see .

'' Thomas Kinkade (born January 19, 1958 in Sacramento, California) is an American painter whose work has been printed in mass production. He is marketed as "Thomas Kinkade, Painter of Light," a trademark owned by Media Arts Group, Inc.
 artwork, with customers calling to reserve the landscapes and cityscapes that have twice won him national recognition.

``We are extremely excited about this rare opportunity to host such a unique event for our gallery opening,'' Allie said. ``This event will show collectors the process of how each Kinkade canvas gets highlighted. This is a dream come true for us.''

Kinkade has perfected a technique first introduced by a distinguished group of 19th-century American painters known as luminists, Allie said.

Kinkade was named Artist of the Year in 1994 and 1995 by the state of California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).  Art Association and in 1996 he was tapped as Graphic Artist of the Year by the National Association of Limited Edition Dealers.

Allie said the price for each of Kinkade's works will average about $900. ``These are all limited-edition art, everything is signed and numbered,'' Allie said.
