It now comprises the provinces of Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia. -- An exhibition featuring photographs of children available for adoption opens today in the art gallery at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. . The college, in cooperation with the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. County Department of Children and Family Services and the Heart Gallery, Los Angeles Committee, will present "The Heart Gallery, Los Angeles" through May 1. The exhibition was designed to help raise awareness of the need to find permanent, loving homes for more than 700 children in the county. Photographs of children in the foster system who are in need of permanent adoptive a·dop·tive adj. 1. a. Of or having to do with adoption. b. Characteristic of adoption. 2. Related by adoption: families will be on display. Most of the children are school-aged and of African-American or Latino heritage. The Heart Gallery Los Angeles is one of more than 40 Heart Galleries that have been developed throughout the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. to help find adoptive families for foster children. This is accomplished by working with community partners and professional photographers who volunteer to create a traveling gallery of photographs that feature these children. A reception will be held in the gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Social workers from the Department of Children and Family Services will be available to answer questions about adoptions. Admission to the College of the Canyons' art gallery is free. A $1 parking permit can be obtained from the south lot or lot No. 6 and covers all student lots.
