GALAXY UPDATE: ROAD WARRIORS OF MLS GALAXY TO OPEN WITH EIGHT IN A ROW ON ROAD.

The club was owned by Lamar Hunt, who also owned the Kansas City Chiefs and FC Dallas until his 2006 death, upon which his son, Clark, took over his sports properties.  at Crew Stadium in a nationally televised game at 1 p.m. on Channel 7.

The new $130 million, 27,000-seat stadium provided by MLS investor Phillip Anshutz, who owns the Galaxy, will host Major League Soccer's two marquee events: the MLS All-Star game An all-star game is an exhibition game played by the best players in their sports league. The players are often chosen by a popular vote of fans of the sport and the game often occurs at the halfway point of the regular season, although this is not the case for some all-star games  at a date to be determined and the MLS Cup championship Nov. 23.

``The 2003 season will be a memorable one for our club,'' said Doug Hamilton, vice president and general manager of the Galaxy. ``After a grueling eight-game road trip, our players will return home to a sold-out stadium at the Home Depot Center and will be welcomed by a 2002 MLS Cup championship-banner ceremony and a new world-class facility.''

The Galaxy's 30-game regular-season MLS schedule consists of 15 on the road and 15 at home.

The schedule includes two visits from the 2002 MLS Cup runner-up New England Revolution The New England Revolution, nicknamed the Revs, is a professional soccer club based in Foxborough, Massachusetts, that participates in Major League Soccer. Even though the club is based in Foxborough, the club represents all of New England.  (July 4, Aug. 23) and the Crew (Aug. 9, Sept. 3).

The San Jose Earthquakes, a professional soccer team located in San Jose, California, participated in Major League Soccer (MLS) from 1995 to 2005 and will resume play in 2008.
 visit June 18 and Oct. 19.

Overall, the schedule includes 10 Saturday dates, three Wednesday games, one Friday game and the July 4 match.
