The conference finals, or ``MLS semifinal,'' is a one-game conference championship hosted by the higher-seeded team. If the conference semifinal or final ends in a tie, a 30-minute sudden-death period will follow. If the game remains tied after sudden death, penalty kicks will determine the winner. ``In making these changes to our schedule and playoff format, we have listened to our fans, who have asked us to follow the international standard,'' Gazidis said. ``More weekend games and the extended fall portion of our schedule enables our teams to work even more closely with their soccer communities, while the dual-style playoff format ensures that every playoff play·off also play-off n.
