Chivas USA - which will share Home Depot Center with the Galaxy - and Real Salt Lake will enter Major League Soccer in 2005, bringing the total number of teams to 12.

Saragosa, on loan with the Galaxy as part of an exchange with Brazil's Sao Paulo, started in 24 games and became the Galaxy's primary defensive midfielder.

Galaxy president and general manager Doug Hamilton said the team left Saragosa unprotected because it doesn't expect him to get picked up.

``He's here on loan and his asking price is very high,'' Hamilton said.

``For somebody to pick him up, they would have to negotiate his (contract) down. And our relationship between Sao Paulo and the Galaxy is so strong that we feel we're offering little exposure by making him available.''

With a back line that already includes veterans Danny Califf, Tyrone Marshall and Chris Albright, Broome became easily expendable.

Torres played in 18 games, but started only five and didn't fit into new coach Steve Sampson's plans.

The Wilmington native and Loyola Marymount graduate is the most likely to go, and probably will be selected by Chivas.
