GALAXY NOTEBOOK: GLAZER'S REPS WILL MEET WITH LEAGUE.

The head of England's Premier League plans to meet with representatives of Malcolm Glazer's new ownership team to discuss their intentions for Manchester United.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner took control of the world's richest soccer team Monday, when he increased his stake in the club to more than 75 percent.

Fans opposed to the deal fear he will raise ticket prices and sell the club's 67,000-seat Old Trafford stadium. Glazer also is reportedly interested in breaking away from a joint television deal shared by the 20 Premier League clubs.

``We will be sitting down in the fullness of time with the people who represent him and just finding out really what their ambitions, what their hopes are, and what their aspirations are for owning Manchester United,'' Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said. ``Whilst we don't own them, we do have, of course, a big interest in them because they are such a fantastic part of our league.''

Glazer has told the London Stock Exchange he will borrow $490 million to fund the $1.47 billion takeover. The bid also includes $503 million of his own money and another $509 million to be generated by issuing preferred securities to large investors.

--ACLs sideline MLS stars: FC Dallas midfielder Richard Mulrooney and San Jose defender Troy Dayak will miss the rest of the MLS season after suffering torn anterior cruciate ligaments during a game Saturday in San Jose.

Mulrooney, a U.S. national team pool player, was in his first game at Spartan Stadium since the Earthquakes traded him to Dallas during the offseason. Dayak's injury ended his career; he had previously announced he would retire after this season to become coach of the new professional indoor club in Stockton.

--In reserve: The Galaxy's reserve team is in first place in MLS's Reserve Division, improving to 3-0-0 Sunday with a 3-1 victory at Real Salt Lake. Second-year forward Joseph Ngwenya scored twice, and he's tied for first in the division's scoring race with the MetroStars Abbe Ibrahim, both with four goals and eight points.

Chivas USA's reserves (1-3-0) are in ninth place following a 3-1 loss at Colorado.

--FIFA defends policy: FIFA president Sepp Blatter said his Swiss-based organization's drug rules are harsher than the World Anti-Doping Agency's global code. Blatter was responding to WADA's announcement Monday that FIFA had until September to comply with its rules or risk its place in the Olympics.

--Also: Sporting Lisbon will be at home for today's UEFA Cup final against CSKA Moscow, which is seeking to become the first Russian club to win a European championship. The UEFA Cup, the No. 2 European club competition, will be televised live at 11:30 a.m. on Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports Espanol. ... Former UCLA star Eddie Lewis returned from an appendectomy and played 90 minutes last weekend in Preston North End's 2-0 victory over Derby in the first leg of the England's second-tier Football Championship promotion semifinals. ... Uncapped D.C. United midfielder Clyde Simms has been called in for the U.S. national team's game May 28 against England in Chicago.
