GALAXY GRABS CSUN DEFENDER.

The Galaxy selected five players and CD Chivas USA four in Friday's Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft, which is used primarily to help MLS See multilevel security.  teams build their reserve squads.

The Galaxy selected Cal State Northridge defender Benjamin Benditson Benjamin Benditson (born February 16, 1983 in Tarzana, California) is a former American soccer defender who spent two seasons in Major League Soccer. Youth and college  with their first pick, the 10th overall.

Other Galaxy selections were UC Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  forward Drew McAthy, Loyola Marymount defender Matt Kovar, UC Davis forward (and La Canada native) Ryan Shaw Ryan Shaw is a soul musician from Georgia, USA. Biography
Shaw began singing in Pentecostal church at the age of three, having been raised in a deeply religious household.
, and Cincinnati forward Jeremiah Gallegos.

``We selected five promising players who will be the initial building blocks for the reserve team and could also compete for time with the full side,'' said Galaxy president and general manager Doug Hamilton Doug Hamilton (March 6, 1963 – March 9, 2006) was president and general manager of the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team. He was previously the general manager of the Miami Fusion. .

Chivas, one of two MLS expansion teams, used its first selection - the second overall - to grab 5-foot-11 goalkeeper Javier Barraga from Cal State Dominguez Hills.

``For us, it's very important we give importance to our reserve team,'' said Dennis te Kloese, Chivas' director of soccer.

``This is a good chance for these players, who in other years, probably would have been left out of the league.''
