GAINS IN BURMA OIL REGION.

General Slim's 14th Army troops fighting in the Burma oil region captured Japanese guns and equipment in a fight at Yenaning, 27 miles south of Minbu, to-day's Seac communique reported.

Other troops of the 14th Army are still being hampered by heavy pre-monsoon rain as they advance southward to Rangoon, where mopping-up operations are going on satisfactorily.

In the Irrawaddy sector, Paungde, 36 miles south of Prome, has been captured.
