GAFFER BOB'S LONG RUN.


BRITAIN'S longest-serving football manager is preparing for his 48th season in charge of the same team.

During his tenure he compiled a 16-17 record. , now 70, still runs up and down the line shouting orders and says he has no plans to quit.

Bobby started the St Helena Bobs - named after the Atlantic island where he lived before moving to Portsmouth - with his workmates in 1962.

The dad-of-six, known as Old Smudger to his players, said:"The game is a real passion of mine and something that has always come naturally.

"Players have to retire when they get older because they are unable to keep up with the pace but age is an asset for a manager."
