GAA: TIPP FOOTBALL CHIEFS WANT SHORTALL BACK.

Byline: JACKIE CAHILL

TIPPERARY'S football board will recommend to Thursday night's full county board meeting that Andy Shortall be returned as manager.

The football board met last night and decided that Shortall and his selectors Jim Cahill and Mick Byrnes should be put forward for another term.

Shortall resigned before this year's All-Ireland football qualifier qual·i·fi·er

The reputation of Tipperary football was badly hit by the affair and the county board picked up a big fine for failing to fulfil the fixture with Fermanagh.

Ever since, the Tipperary county and football boards have been at loggerheads log·ger·head

Shortall, Cahill and Byrnes would love to return but county board chairman Donie Shanahan is dead against such a move.

The football board discussed the latest state of affairs at last night's board meeting and the saga is sure to come up for discussion at Thursday night's full county board meeting.
