GAA: RAVAGED TRIBESMEN ARE FACING BUOYANT LEITRIM; LEITRIM v GALWAY.

Byline: By ORLA BANNON

GALWAY champions Killererin have nominated Moycullen's Paul Clancy as captain for tomorrow's Connacht semi-final against Leitrim in the absence of Padraig Joyce.

With all three Joyce's unavailable and keeper Alan Keane only on the bench, county champions Killererin will have no representation on the starting 15 in Salthill tomorrow. "Declan Meehan was mentioned, but as far as I understand it Killererin have nominated Paul Clancy as captain," confirmed a team spokesman.

The loss of captain Padraig Joyce with a foot injury is a massive blow to Peter Ford - while his cousin Tommie quit the panel after failing to play against New York New York, state, United States

Leitrim meanwhile are riding high after a superb breakthrough against Sligo in the quarter-final and with no Joe Bergin, Sean Og De Paor or Richie Fahey for Galway, they may fancy their chances.

Dessie Dolan Snr has kept faith with the same starting 15, which means super-sub Darren Duignan, who kicked two points after coming on against the Yeatsmen, has to be content with another cameo cameo (kăm`ēō), small relief carving, usually on striated precious or semiprecious stones or on shell. Star forward Donal Brennan is fit again but is also held in reserve. For once, Leitrim appear to have strength in depth and nothing to lose.

"Winning a Championship game is a big boost for us, but travelling to Salthill is a severe test," said Leitrim defender Dermot Reynolds.

"But Dessie has instilled a new belief in this team."
