FutureSoft Provides Advanced Switching Software to Ciena for CN 4350 Ethernet Services Provisioning Switch.

, Calif. -- FutureSoft, a leading provider of switching and routing software for the network industry, announced that its Layer 2 protocol stacks are included in Ciena Corporation's recently announced CN 4350(TM) Ethernet Services Provisioning Switch.

"Time-to-market is critical in today's competitive networking marketplace, so using FutureSoft's Layer 2 protocol stacks played an important role in reducing the development time for Ciena's CN 4350 platform," said Dr. Dhritiman Banerjee, Director of software engineering for network specialist Ciena. "FutureSoft's Layer 2 protocol stack is a high quality solution in terms of features and reliability, and we were able to port the stacks into the CN 4350 ourselves with the necessary support from FutureSoft."

Ciena has included MSTP (MultiService Transport Platform) A high-end Cisco router that is geared for optical connections to metropolitan area networks (MANs). MSTPs include the functionality of MultiService Provisioning Platform (MSSP) routers.
