As well as praising the duo's well-known cartoons, Robin applauded Teesside University's efforts to create the next generation, as well as festival director Chris Williams.

"The future of the animation industry lies with these students and we have had so much luck bringing in all these new students," he said.

"The animation community is a small one but to see all these students excited about it and for us all to get together to share this excitement is a great idea of Chris's."

Both William Hanna and Joe Barbera recently died, and Robin feels it is important to remember their work in the early stages of animation, which set the stage for what it has now become.
