High prices stimulate economy segment and private label

Rising cigarette prices due to tax hikes in Europe and the MSA (Metropolitan Service Area) An urban area with at least 50,000 people plus surrounding counties. There are 306 MSAs and 428 RSAs (rural service areas) in the U.S. MSAs and RSAs are used to allocate cellular licenses.  in the US, for example, led to the emergence economy-priced cigarettes including private label in the review period, as manufacturers sought to capitalise on the growing demand for economy-priced cigarettes, which had so far stimulated the demand for duty not paid cigarettes and RYO tobacco. In the UK, for example, price hikes have boosted demand for economy-priced cigarettes. In 2003, Imperial's Lambert & Butler commanded top ranking in terms of market volume share at 16%, and a number of other economy-priced brands also gained share between 2001 and 2003 displacing the dominance of premium brands such as Benson & Hedges.
