FunMail demonstrated live animated MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) An enhanced transmission service that enables graphics, video clips and sound files to be transmitted via cellphones. "The FunMail MMS Animated Messaging service is up live and running for the world to see. It works," said FunMail CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Anybody can use FunMail -- all you have to do is type in a SMS, and it is magically transformed into a color animated MMS message. The animations with characters like Garfield and South Park really make these color phones come to life."

GPRS added a packet-switched channel to GSM, which uses dedicated, circuit-switched channels for voice conversations.  network in a matter of seconds.

To create a FunMail MMS, a user simply types in a SMS with their desired message, such as "LUNCH 2DAY?" The FunMail system then analyzes that message, and generates a color animation with the user's favorite character, such as Garfield eating a hamburger. The service generally takes 10 to 12 seconds to generate and send the animated MMS message.
