Fun-filled day at walkathon.

A WALKATHON WALKATHON Walkers At Large Kinetically Altruistic Through Hygiene or Nowledge  to raise health awareness gets underway at 11am today at Amwaj Island's Beach Club, Muharraq.

The first Annual Shoe Mart Walkathon is split into two routes - 3km and 5km.

All walkers are requested to meet at the Beach Club at 10am to be allocated one of several groups following each route.

Organisers have printed more than 4,000 registration forms for the event, which also aims to raise money for the Bahrain Down Syndrome Down syndrome, congenital disorder characterized by mild to severe mental retardation, slow physical development, and characteristic physical features. Down syndrome affects about 1 in every 730 live births and occurs in all populations equally.  Society.

It coincides with World Down Syndrome Day, which also falls today.

The main 5km route comprises the following categories: the Mother and Daughter Walk, the Healthy Hike, the Doggie Dash, the Singles Strut, Singles Unite, Corporate/Social Groups, Schools and Universities and Families and Friends.

The alternative 3km walk comprises: The Stiletto Sprint, BabyWalks, Happy Feet, Heels and Wheels and Lets Push Those Wheelchairs.

It is being organised by Al Rashid Group in collaboration Working together on a project. See collaborative software.  with Unisono Event Management Company and ends with a Shoe Festival, featuring games and activities for all ages including shoe throwing, shoe design contests and a barbecue barbecue [West Indian or South American], in the United States, traditionally an open-air gathering, political or social, in which meats are roasted whole over a pit of embers and food and drink are liberally enjoyed. .
