Fun aim for the Priory picnic; INBRIEF.AN ARCHERY archery, sport of shooting with bow and arrow, an important military and hunting skill before the introduction of gunpowder. England's Charles II fostered archery as sport, establishing in 1673 the world's oldest continuous archery tournament, the Ancient Scorton demonstration from the Whitby Company of Archers will be a highlight of Gisborough Priory's "Picnic in the Priory" day of activities in the grounds and adjacent gardens. Attractions on Saturday from 10am-4pm will include storytellers weaving tales among the trees, music from local bands and refreshments re·fresh·ment n. 1. Something, such as food or drink, that refreshes. 3. refreshments A snack or light meal and drinks. including a hog roast, homemade cakes and ice cream. Local crafts will also be displayed and there'll be guided tours of the priory and gardens plus information available about the ongoing garden restoration.. |
