Continuing to enjoy the good things in life in spite of having MS is not only common sense, it's medically advisable. Everyone needs fresh air and exercise, a change in routine, and a chance to let go. We need to spend time with family and friends in ways that promote good relationships. In short, we all need to have fun. This may not be so easy for people who live with MS. It takes planning to be protected from excessive heat, bright sunlight, or the temptation to overdo it. If you're off for more than a day, it requires traveling with medications. It takes wise use of adaptations to work around fatigue or mobility problems that might stop you from activities others take for granted. Because MS is so unpredictable, most people with the disease just don't do "spontaneous". They have fun successfully because they know--nearly as well as I do--the value of thorough planning. They know a plan isn't complete unless there's a backup plan and some tolerable tol·er·a·ble adj. 1. Capable of being tolerated; endurable. 2. Fairly good; passable.
