Fulton County Taxpayers Association Hosts Roundtable Discussions; Free Informational Meetings Follow Fulton's Notice of Reassessment Mailing.

Business Editors

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 2003

The Fulton County
  • Fulton County is the name of a number of counties in the United States of America, most named for Robert Fulton, inventor of the first practical steamboat:
Tax Payers Association, Inc. (FCTA FCTA Florida Cable Telecommunications Association
FCTA Frederick County Teachers Association
FCTA Fulton County Transit Authority (Kentucky, USA)
FCTA Fibre Channel Trade Association
FCTA Fibre Channel Tape Acceleration
) will sponsor a series of informational meetings about property taxes.

These meetings are geared to help home owners better understand their options in dealing with the Notices of Reassessment to be mailed by the County on April 18 and are offered free to residents.

From 2001 to 2002, almost 8 percent of homeowners in the City of Atlanta had increases in their reassessments of over 50 percent. An even larger number, 30 percent, had increases of more than 20 percent. Increases up to 20 percent were seen by 69 percent of Fulton County property owners. That means just about everyone in the County had their property assessments increase last year.

Many of these increases have proven to be mistakes, errors and other faulty issues with the County Office of Appraiser A person selected or appointed by a competent authority or an interested party to evaluate the financial worth of property.

Appraisers are frequently appointed in probate and condemnation proceedings and are also used by banks and real estate concerns to determine the market
. FCTA has helped thousands of individual property owners successfully appeal their reassessments and reduce their property taxes. To help raise awareness of the issues, FCTA will have a series of meetings with several important panelists and locations are conveniently located to serve three major areas of the County.

Panelists will include Dr. Arthur Ferdinand, Tax Commissioner, Fulton County; Mr. Brady Barnett, chairman, Fulton County Board of Assessors; Mr. John Cunningham John Cunningham or Jack Cunningham may refer to:
