Filtration The separation of solid particles from a fluidsolids suspension of which they are a part by passage of most of the fluid through a septum or membrane that retains most of the solids systems for high capacity lines. These models are the latest from Gnuess' RSFgenius series of pressure constant and fully automatic filtration systems for plastic melts. The RSFgenius models 300 and 400 have been designed especially for high-capacity production plants with throughputs of several tons per hour. The largest filter, the RSFgenius 400, has an active filtration area of 365 square inches. It is suitable for processing 10 tons/hour of polyester polyester, synthetic fiber, produced by the polymerization of the product formed when an alcohol and organic acid react. The outstanding characteristic of polyesters is their ability to resist wrinkling and to spring back into shape when creased. with an IV of 0.7 and a filtration fineness of 75 micron micron: see micrometer. One micrometer, which is one millionth of a meter or approximately 1/25,000 of an inch. The tiny elements that make up a transistor on a chip are measured in micrometers and nanometers.
