Fujitsu and Philips to Cooperate in Development of Color Plasma Displays for Flat TVs.


TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 13, 1998--Fujitsu Limited and Philips Consumer Electronics Philips Consumer Electronics is a part of Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. (usually known as Philips); and is one of the largest electronics companies in the world. In 2005, its sales were € 30.4 billion (US$38.  have agreed to cooperate in the design and refinement of color not of the white race; - commonly meaning, esp. in the United States, of negro blood, pure or mixed.

Recognizing at an early stage the potential of color PDPs to penetrate the consumer market, Fujitsu and Philips began establishing cooperative relations in this area in 1996. In 1995, Fujitsu introduced the world's first high-performance 42-inch color PDP, which Philips incorporated into its Flat TV launched in Europe in November 1997 and in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. Under the terms of the latest agreement, the companies will undertake various joint development projects to optimize performance, quality and features, as well as to realize cost improvements in the design of color PDPs for flat TVs. Drawing on the strengths of each partner and concentrating on the 42-inch format, the two companies aim to accelerate development cycles with a specific goal of bringing to market a new color PDP by the end of this year.

While both companies are committed to the development of the color PDP market, the agreement places no restrictions on Fujitsu's ability to market its industry-leading PDP technology to other customers as well as Philips.
