Fujitsu and LogicVision Introduce Industry's First Complete Test Solution for SOC Designs.

LogicVision, Inc. today announced that Fujitsu Limited has integrated LogicVision's embedded test technology into its IPSymphony(TM) system-on-a-chip (SOC) design methodology. In so doing, LogicVision and Fujitsu are the first in the industry to create a complete test solution that can fully address the increased complexities of SOC designs.

Integrating LogicVision's embedded test within virtual components in the Fujitsu library ensures IP from multiple sources can be combined quickly and successfully.

"This addition essentially allows the reuse of the manufacturing test as far as the 'test-ready' IP cores are concerned and is in line with VSIA Test-DWG activities," said Sobhan Mukherji, manager of ATDD test methodology group for WWSLT, Fujitsu.

In addition, using embedded test during SOC integration greatly reduces the time required for system verification, test engineering and debug. LogicVision's embedded test will be integrated into Fujitsu's IPSymphony. This move is the result of a two-year collaboration between the two companies, culminating in the successful design and manufacture of a complex, deep submicron, SOC chip. Initially, LogicVision's embedded test products are expected to be used throughout Fujitsu's LSI engineering groups for internal product development.

LogicVision's patented technology embeds high-performance test and diagnosis circuitry directly into integrated circuits, eliminating some of the most challenging design and manufacturing issues associated with very deep submicron and system-on-a-chip technologies. The embedded test circuits are inserted using LogicVision's proprietary design tools, and test programs are automatically generated. By minimizing the need for capital- and labor-intensive external test, embedded test shortens time to market and greatly reduces test costs. In addition, the embedded test circuitry can be re-used hierarchically at the board- and system-level to optimize the quality and cost of electronic products. For integrated circuits consisting of more than one million gates, embedded test requires less than 2 percent silicon overhead. The solution is compatible with existing design flows and manufacturing environments.
