Fujitsu U-Scan Genesis Carousel Model Now Available.

Advanced Self-checkout Systems Offer Improved Flexibility, Scalability, Reliability and Usability

FRISCO, Texas Frisco is a city in Collin County and Denton County, Texas (USA).

It is a northern suburb of Dallas. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 33,714, while according to 2007 estimate, the city's population is approximately 95,000.
-- Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. today announced immediate availability of its U-Scan Genesis(TM) Carousel self-checkout system.

The Carousel model offers increased capacity for large orders with a rotating bagging platform containing six bag racks and the option to add a secondary bagging platform. The rotating platform provides shoppers with easy accessibility to the bag racks and limits body strain caused by reaching while bagging purchases.

Fujitsu's U-Scan Genesis offers retailers improved flexibility, scalability, reliability and usability with a wide portfolio of hardware and software technology advances including:

* High-capacity, space-saving footprint - redesigned to offer more bagging capacity per square foot, delivered in one of the smallest self-checkout footprints available. U-Scan Genesis minimizes the impact on the overall retail floor selling space while providing greater opportunity for impulse item merchandising in and around the self-checkout area.

* ATM-style "follow me" LED lighting - guides users through the checkout process faster, making it easier to locate the bill, coin, receipt and coupon devices. Shaving seconds off of every self-checkout transaction results in faster throughput and improved labor productivity.

* More intuitive customer interface - redesigned using the same human-machine interaction technology applied to design automotive and aviation control systems, making U-Scan Genesis easy for customers to follow on-screen on·screen or on-screen

* "Above scanner" bill and coin accepting and dispensing units - speeds the transaction process and reduces the chance of customers leaving money behind. Vertical orientation Vertical orientation is a 3:4 aspect ratio, rotated 90 degrees from a NTSC television's standard 4:3 aspect ratio. It has been used primarily for arcade games (especially during the early 1980s) and for art projects, including a music video by The Shamen.  of these devices into a tight cluster adjacent to the display makes it much easier and faster for consumers to find the bill, coin receipt and coupon devices.

* Multi-item scanning - this patent-pending technology enables shoppers to scan items one after the other and then place in the bag to further accelerate the check-out process. Shoppers do not have to scan and bag one item before scanning and bagging another.

* Fujitsu's new F53 bill dispensing unit - designed and built by Fujitsu, the new F53 bill dispenser significantly improves dispensing rates and reduces bill jams - the most common self-checkout service and maintenance issue.

* Coin hopper or coin canister dispensing units - allows retailer to choose the coin management option that's best for their retail operating environment In computing, an operating environment is the environment in which users run programs, whether in a command line interface, such as in MS-DOS or the Unix shell, or in a graphical user interface, such as in the Macintosh operating system. .

* Metrologic scanner/scale - offers high first-pass scan rates with six-sided, 360[deg] scanning and integrated electronic article surveillance See EAS.  (EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) A security system for preventing theft in retail stores that uses disposable label tags or reusable hard tags attached to the merchandise. ).

* Retail-hardened Fujitsu TeamPoS 3000 terminals - designed to withstand the rigors of high-volume checkout environments with easy serviceability.

* Rapid integration to POS (1) See point of sale and packet over SONET.

Future POS upgrades are much simpler, faster and less costly to integrate with the U-Scan software, meaning much lower impact to retailer's on-going POS release schedule.

U-Scan Genesis is also available in one-, two- and four-bag, multi-lane payment station and kiosk configurations.
