Fujitsu Software Makes Landmark COBOL Sale To Indian Computer Institute Association.

who will learn COBOL using the Fujitsu COBOL compiler and tools.

Fujitsu Software Corporation, a leading supplier of COBOL compilers and tools, today announced that it has been awarded a $15 million contract to be the exclusive provider of COBOL software and associated video training for the Indian Computer Institute Association (ICIA). The package will be made available to the ICIA's 2000 member colleges and universities beginning Q1 2001.

Fujitsu Software Corporation will be supplying ICIA with a special academic edition of the Fujitsu COBOL product along with more than 25 hours of video-based training. The video training provides an introduction to the COBOL language, guidance in using the Fujitsu COBOL development environment, thorough training in the design and execution of graphical user interfaces using PowerCOBOL, and many worked exercises demonstrating the use of Fujitsu COBOL and PowerCOBOL. According to Ron Langer, Director COBOL Sales and Marketing for Fujitsu Software Corporation, the software portion of the contract is in excess of $10 million dollars, which is believed to be the largest COBOL sale in recent history.
