Fujitsu Redefines The Medium-Volume Imaging Market With The High-Performance M3093DE Duplex Scanner; Targets Growing Workgroup and Departmental Document Imaging Users.SAN JOSE San Jose, city, United States San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850. , Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 1997--Fujitsu Computer Products of America brings high-performance duplex scanning to workgroup document imaging professionals with the introduction of an affordable and rugged 45 images per minute (ipm) duplex scanner. The new M3093DE, the next generation of Fujitsu's market-leading M3093 scanner family, is designed to meet the high-volume duplex scanning needs of growing departmental and workgroup imaging environments. The M3093DE increases productivity by combining flatbed support with duplex scanning capabilities through the 50-page automatic document feeder In multifunction or all-in-one printers, fax machines, photocopiers and scanners, Automatic Document Feeder or ADF is a feature which takes several pages and feeds the paper one page at a time into the scanner, allowing the user to scan (and thereby copy, print, or fax) (ADF (1) (Application Development Facility) An IBM programmer-oriented mainframe application generator that runs under IMS. (2) (Automatic Document Feeder) A paper stacker that feeds one sheet of paper at a time into the unit. ). The M3093DE maintains virtually error-free paper handling while boosting duty cycles up to 1,000 pages per day or 2,000 images on average. The M3093DE also features enhanced image resolution, a duplex design for simultaneous scanning of both sides of a document, and compatibility with Fujitsu's Enhancement Technology (ET) for improved image quality at scan time. "Workgroup and departmental document imaging are two of the fastest growing segments of the entire imaging market," said Rita Marcojohn, vice president of Fujitsu Computer Products' imaging products group. "Fujitsu designed the M3093DE to be a reliable workhorse work·horse n. 1. Something, such as a machine, that performs dependably under heavy or prolonged use: "the 50-year-old DC-3 ... for these environments. It has the high performance, cost effectiveness and endurance to meet the most demanding needs of workgroups or departments that do not require or did not budget for high-end production-level scanning." Among other ease-of-use features, the new M3093DE is one of the first to offer a video and RS-232C interface support for simple connections to leading imaging products offered by Kofax and Xionics, and Seaport, among others. Fujitsu also includes the ScanRight Image Kit, an enhancement package that contains support software, an image-capture utility and an informational guide for simplifying scanner installation and increasing operation productivity. In simplex mode, the M3093DE performs at 27 pages per minute (ppm). In both duplex and simplex modes, the new scanner offers resolutions up to 600 dpi, through interpolation interpolation In mathematics, estimation of a value between two known data points. ET Features Standard The ET features available with the new Fujitsu M3093DE include error diffusion, dynamic thresholding, spot noise removal, character smoothing and auto separation. ET also includes IPC (1) (InterProcess Communication) The exchange of data between one program and another either within the same computer or over a network. An optional red lamp background filter extracts data from hard-to-scan pre-printed forms with red backgrounds. No Excuses, Two-Business Day Replacement Fujitsu stands behind its imaging scanner products with the No Excuses warranty program designed to intensify the cost-effectiveness and reliability of the duplex scanner. No Excuses provides purchasers of the M3093DE scanner with a replacement scanner in two-business days if they experience problems with their scanner during the first year of operation. Pricing and Availability The new M3093DE scanner has a list price of $6,495 and will be available in January.
