), announced today that its FANS (Fujitsu's Advanced Networking Solutions) service will be the North American extension of Fujitsu Ltd.'s highly successful FENICS (Fujitsu's Enhanced Information and Communication Service) Global Managed Network Solutions.

Through this partnership, the FANS network will reach 37 countries worldwide, providing frame relay A high-speed packet switching protocol used in wide area networks (WANs). Providing a granular service of up to DS3 speed (45 Mbps), it has become popular for LAN to LAN connections across remote distances, and services are offered by most major carriers.  service, ATM, remote LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The FANS network will be connected to Japan by a 155 Mbps Trans-Pacific ATM link. This will account for approximately 10% of the Trans-Pacific telecommunications traffic. With this new partnership, FANS and FENICS customers will have a transparent connection between the two countries without having to change service providers to connect with their overseas counterparts.

The combination of the FANS and FENICS services will provide companies with a single point of accountability for an extensive array of networking services, including enterprise network design, implementation and ongoing monitoring support.

Through its comprehensive list of agreements with industry leading suppliers, including MCI (1) (Media Control Interface) A high-level programming interface from Microsoft and IBM for controlling multimedia devices. It provides commands and functions to open, play and close the device.
