Fujifilm introduces DigiLabs photo specialty products software for use with Xerox digital printers.


Fuiifilm U.S.A. Inc., Valhalla, N.Y., introduces a new software application that expands its pro lab and on-site retail photo print solutions to create photo books, photo calendars, greeting cards See e-card. , and other customized photo products, using digital color printers from Xerox Corp., Stamford, Conn.

The DigiLabs software is a suite of software applications for making photo books, cards, and calendars that runs on the Windows XP The previous client version of Windows. XP was a major upgrade to the client version of Windows 2000 with numerous changes to the user interface. XP improved support for gaming, digital photography, instant messaging, wireless networking and sharing connections to the Internet.  platform. It features an easy-to-use interface for building photo books with basic templates and text fields.

"Our retail and pro lab customers are receptive and eager for us to deploy this solution, and we're very pleased to bring this offering to them," says Thomas Curley, director of marketing for lab solutions, Imaging Division, for Fujifilm U.S.A. "The solution combines innovative photo software with retail order management capability to enhance the growing business of photo specialty items, with the added benefit of ongoing demand and increased revenue stream."

The solution includes a separate order console application A console application is a computer program designed to be used via a text-only computer interface, such as a text terminal, the command line interface of some operating systems (Unix, DOS, etc.  to use for billing and releasing orders for printing. Orders are created by the customer on network-attached workstations or via a personal PC from home, depending on the retailer or venue, and sent to the order console. Orders are then released to the Xerox printer for two-sided output on high-quality paper stocks.
