LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1998--Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. Inc., co-developer with Iomega Corp. of the 100MB Zip Disk A 3.5" removable disk drive from Iomega. Zip disks come in 100MB, 250MB and 750MB varieties, with the latter introduced in 2002 using USB and FireWire interfaces. The 250MB drives, introduced in 1998, also read and write 100MB disks.  and a leading developer behind many of today's most advanced removable computer storage products, has produced yet another giant leap forward in the data storage industry.

Continuing to bolster its market leadership position, Fujifilm today announced the 250MB Zip 250 disk, based on Fujifilm's ATOMM ATOMM Advanced Super Thinlayer and High-Output Metal Media

technology, for Iomega's new Zip 250 drive.

This next generation Zip disk was enabled by ATOMM (an acronym acronym: see abbreviation.

A derivative of the company's world-renowned film coating process, Fujifilm's ATOMM technology has become the industry standard as the inside media technology of choice for next generation drive manufacturers. Over the years, Fujifilm's ATOMM has also led to numerous watershed products in the data storage industry, such as the 100MB Zip disk, DLTtape(tm)IV and DDS-3 data cartridge (1) A cartridge used to hold computer data. The key features of an ATOMM coated storage product are the two special layers on each recording surface. The first is a remarkably thin upper layer of magnetic particles that allows for superior high-density recording. This upper layer is simultaneously coated over a second layer made of non-magnetic compound for increased durability.

"We have shown time and again that our ATOMM technology is the clear choice for next generation data storage products that far exceed traditional performance and storage capabilities," said Steve Solomon, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Computer Products Division, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. "Our track record in the industry is unmatched, for we have continually set new benchmarks with our ATOMM technology based products that have resulted in higher-capacity, better performance, and faster transfer rates."

Ideal for handling downloads from the Internet, multimedia presentations and high-resolution digital images, key features of Zip 250 include:

- Compatibility with more than 100 million Zip 100MB disk shipped

- Higher-capacity - 175 times more capacity than the floppy

- Faster performance - up to 56 times faster than the floppy

- Ease-of-use and portability

With today's announcement, Fujifilm now develops and markets a wide range of ATOMM-based solutions including 100MB and 250MB disks for Iomega's drives, as well as the 200MB HiFD. Added Solomon, "Regardless of the user's preference, Fujifilm offers a disk to meet the growing storage needs of today's consumers."

Fujifilm's branded Zip 250MB disk will be available in first quarter 1999 with pricing details to be announced To be announced (TBA)
