Fujifilm Graphic Systems Unveils the FD-T 9000 CTP At Graph Expo '98; Expanding the Company's Computer-To-Plate Product Lineup.CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 1998--The Graphic Systems Division of Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. today announced the introduction of its new thermal eight-page computer-to-plate device, the FD-T 9000 CTP CTP (cytidine triphosphate): see cytosine. (1) (Computer-To-Plate) The production of printing plates directly from the computer without requiring film as an intermediate step. that will be on display at Graph Expo '98. The FD-T 9000 CTP is the fastest thermal plate recorder on the market with an output productivity of 12 plates an hour at 2,400 dpi. The FD-T 9000 CTP also offers an automatic internal plate punch that provides exceptional repeatability. Users can mount eight punch blocks A type of terminal strip used to connect telephone or data lines to each other. Also called "punch-down block," "quick-connect block," "terminating block" and "connecting block," punch blocks use "insulation displacement connectors" (IDCs), which cut through the insulation as the wire is and select punches based on plate sizes and press type. A variety of punches are available. The FD-T 9000 CTP has an automatic drum balancing system that requires no manual adjustment while providing support for a wide range of plate sizes on the external drum. The standard plate loading mechanism is semi-automatic, but can be upgraded in the future to a fully automatic. The Fujifilm FD-T 9000 CTP features a 32-channel head that allows multiple resolution settings and provides customers with a maximum of serviceability (system) serviceability - The ease with which corrective maintenance or preventative maintenance can be performed on a system (e.g. by a hardware service technician). Higher serviceability improves availability and reduces service cost. Serviceability is one component of RAS. and a minimum replacement cost for individual laser diodes A semiconductor-based laser used to generate analog signals or digital pulses for transmission through optical fibers. Both laser diodes and LEDs (light-emitting diodes) are used for this purpose, but the laser diode generates a smaller beam that is easier to couple with the smaller core . The Fujifilm FD-T 9000 CTP can expose thermal plates sensitive to 830 nm infrared light Noun 1. infrared light - electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than radio waves infrared emission, infrared radiation, infrared . The unit can accommodate a thickness of 0.2mm to 0.3mm and a range of plate sizes from 37" x 45.6" (max) and to 21.6" x 25.6" (min). In addition its 32-channel head allows multiple resolution settings of 1,200, 2,000, 2,400, or 4,000 dpi. "With the introduction of the FD-T 9000 CTP, we are continuing to re-affirm our global leadership position in the marketplace," said Tim Combs, Vice President, Marketing, Graphic Systems Division, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. "We're committed to addressing the needs of the market and the growing acceptance of computer-to-plate." All of Fujifilm's plates utilize the same aluminum base as the current conventional Fuji PS-Plate product line and incorporate Fuji's patented multi-grain technology, ensuring consistent printability and high quality results on press. The Fujifilm FD-T 9000 CTP will also include options such as an in-line punch system and connection to an in-line processor. A fully automatic plate loading mechanism is currently under development and an optional multi-cassette version will be available in the future. The Fujifilm FD-T 9000 CTP will be available in the U.S. in the first quarter 1999.
