The Food Safety Commission recommends that an amount of soybean isoflavone intake be around 30mg (aglycone aglycone /agly·cone/ (a-gli´kon) aglycon.

In response to the news reports, Fujicco has issued a statement that the comment made by the Food Safety Commission is intended for FOSHU FOSHU Foods for Specified Health Use (Japan)  (foods for specified health use) or supplements, not for general soybean foods. The company has also emphasized that its four proprietary soybean isoflavone-based products, which are designated as FOSHU, pose no safety problem.

The company explains that 40mg of soybean isoflavone glycoside as noted on its products is aglycone equivalent to 25mg.
