Equant won the award based on its increasing geographical presence, penetration of new products, and strong growth in its corporate IP VPN customer base.

"Equant is the market leader in European IP VPN services," said Niamh Spillane, European Market analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "As Equant remains debt-free and financially stable, Frost & Sullivan believes that it is in a prime position to achieve a 20 to 30 percent market share of the European IP VPN services market during 2003."

In considering award candidates, Frost & Sullivan analysts quantified several market factors, using interviews with market participants, customers, and suppliers, along with extensive additional research. Frost & Sullivan concluded: "The merging of Equant with Global One propelled the company forward into this lucrative position, and Equant's leading market engineering strategy has ensured that it retains that position in the face of aggressive competitive forces."
