Frontline Test Equipment Delivers Industry-First Solution For Analyzing Bluetooth Protocols.

Business Editors/High Tech Writers

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 2001

SerialBlue(TM) Analyzes Bluetooth Data Frames At The Bit Level!

Frontline Test Equipment, Inc., the leader in affordable, PC-based, data communication test equipment, today announced the availability of their SerialBlue(TM) analyzer for the HCI (Human Computer Interaction) Refers to the design and implementation of computer systems that people interact with. It includes desktop systems as well as embedded systems in all kinds of devices.  UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) The electronic circuit that makes up the serial port. Also known as "universal serial asynchronous receiver transmitter" (USART), it converts parallel bytes from the CPU into serial bits for transmission, and vice , L2CAP L2CAP - Logical Link Control and Adaptation Protocol , and BCSP BCSP Board of Certified Safety Professionals

 Bluetooth protocols.

Unlike existing Bluetooth protocol analyzers that monitor RF data flows between Bluetooth products, SerialBlue is unique in its ability to capture and analyze serial Bluetooth data as it travels between a host and host controller.

SerialBlue is an indispensable tool for Bluetooth development, integration, and test engineers--by shrinking product development cycles and software debug intervals, SerialBlue significantly reduces Bluetooth R&D expenses and improves time to market.

The SerialBlue feature set includes real-time data capture, timestamping, filtering, and error analysis. However, the product's truly differentiating attribute is its ability to fully decode data frames on the link between a Bluetooth host and host controller--at the bit level. This full decoding capability enables Bluetooth product developers to rapidly detect and isolate even the most minute and intermittent problems associated with their product designs.

According to Eric Kaplan, Frontline President, "SerialBlue is the latest in a series of protocol analyzers based on our Frontline Test System(R) (FTS FTS

)(TM) software--which serves as the common core for our entire protocol analyzer family. The response from initial SerialBlue customers has been outstanding, with beta test and pre-release customers using terms like 'fantastic' and 'awesome' to describe the product."

SerialBlue runs on any Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000 compatible PC. In its standard configuration, using two standard PC serial ports, the product supports data rates up to 115.2Kbps. With an optional high-speed serial card, also available from Frontline, SerialBlue supports speeds up to 921.6Kbps.

SerialBlue is priced at $3,495 and is available immediately.

) designs, develops, markets, and supports cost-effective, PC-based data communication test tools for the computer and communications industries. The company is currently fielding a family of general purpose and application-specific protocol analyzers based upon a common software core--the FTS software. The resulting consistent look and feel across all Frontline products drastically reduces learning curves for engineers working in multiple protocol environments.

In addition to SerialBlue, currently available products based on the FTS software include: Serialtest(R) Async, Serialtest Spy, and AsyncExpress(TM) (asynchronous Refers to events that are not synchronized, or coordinated, in time. The following are considered asynchronous operations. The interval between transmitting A and B is not the same as between B and C. FTS products are PC-based and support Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, and 2000.
