Frontier Corporation (NYSE:FRO) today announced that Frontier GlobalCenter, a global leader in Internet content distribution services, will complete by mid-November this year its newest MegaCenterSM. The Silicon Valley MegaCenter is a major state-of-the-art data facility combining leading Internet and network technologies with advanced security features. Frontier GlobalCenter MDCs are an integral part of the company's digital distribution architecture which bypasses the congested Internet infrastructure to provide enhanced performance.

The 42,000 square foot MegaCenter, located in Sunnyvale, is the latest of several such Frontier GlobalCenter facilities planned to open this year. Frontier has completed construction of a MegaCenter in New York City and an additional Herndon, Va. MDC will soon follow. The MegaCenters join Frontier GlobalCenter's eight other MDCs located in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.

The Silicon Valley MegaCenter is a fully fiber-lit two-story building outfitted with the latest in data center technology. Designed to have no single point of failure and exceeding current IBM standards, the MDC employs three 1250 watt generators, more than 4,000 gallons of generator fuel for 24 hours of run time, an on site AC electrical substation, an onsite 16000 amp DC power plant, enhanced category 5 cable and five uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Fully independent lead lined tape storage room protects the MegaCenter against electromagnetic pulses (EMP).

Many companies' security and data integrity concerns prevent them from outsourcing their Internet operations, or keep them out of the Internet space altogether. The Frontier GlobalCenter MegaCenter facility will enable businesses to outsource their mission-critical Internet operations to Frontier GlobalCenter with confidence.

The MegaCenter includes such safety and security features as biometrics, or handprint scanner, security verification, bullet proof glass, multiple mantrap areas, laser sniffing fire detection system (VESDA), multiple zoned FM-200 fire suppression system, water detection and suppression system. Approximately 100 security cameras support the on-site 24 hour security. The MegaCenter is protected externally by pan/tilt/zoom cameras, a seven foot concrete front wall and electric entrance gates.

This newest MDC is part of Frontier GlobalCenter's digital distribution architecture which bypasses the overburdened Internet infrastructure so that Internet businesses have a faster and more reliable network path to content consumers. The Frontier GlobalCenter digital distribution architecture currently handles one million Internet hits a minute and delivers more than six billion page views per month. Digital distribution uses a combination of geographically dispersed MDCs, proprietary software that directs end-users to the fastest path to content, and a combination of private and public interconnects.

The MegaCenter will be connected to the Frontier Optronics NetworkSM which is being built to pass through Frontier GlobalCenter's U.S. Media Distribution Centers. This new configuration replaces leased circuits that backhauled traffic to Frontier GlobalCenter's DS-3 backbone with multiple high-speed OC-48 connectivity. The Frontier Optronics Network also gives Frontier GlobalCenter the ability to easily scale its operations to even greater bandwidth in the future as customer demand and technology advancements require.

Connecting more than 120 metropolitan areas around the nation, the Frontier Optronics Network uses the most advanced fiber optics with DWDM. This future-proof design creates "liquid bandwidth," scalable architecture giving the network virtually unlimited capacity. Upon completion, the entire Frontier Optronics Network will exceed a capacity of 460 Gbps.
