Frontier Communications Commended for "Outstanding Efforts to Retain and Grow Workforce".BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- The City of Burnsville has honored Frontier Communications with a Certificate of Commendation COMMENDATION. The act of recommending, praising. A merchant who merely commends goods he offers for sale, does not by that act warrant them, unless there is some fraud: simplex commendatio non obligat. based upon the company's "outstanding efforts to retain and grow" its workforce in Burnsville. Burnsville was recently selected by Frontier as a 'core' call center. The selection is part of the company's customer operations strategy, an on-going process designed to streamline call center operations and simplify and enhance customers' experiences with Frontier. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to consolidate its 14 call centers into three or four core "virtual" centers. In selecting Burnsville as a core call center, Frontier reiterated its commitment to keeping call center jobs in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. at a time when such work is increasingly outsourced overseas. Locally, the announcement means the retention of more than 150 jobs. Increased job growth could follow as the company aggressively seeks to add customers and increase the penetration of products and services in its markets in 23 states. A number of factors were key to Burnsville's selection, including its quality labor pool, population growth of the area, and the education levels of potential employees. The last factor was aided by local Frontier management, in cooperation with Dakota County Technical College Total, the college has more than 50 programs, about 6000 regular credit students and 6000 customized training students a year. Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz presented John Lass, Frontier's Senior Vice President and General Manager, with the commendation certificate at the Burnsville City Council's November 6th meeting. Mayor Kautz stated, "We wish to recognize Frontier for their outstanding efforts at retaining and growing its workforce in Burnsville." The City Council also commended Frontier for its commitment to making Burnsville a better place to live and work. "We are honored to receive the city's recognition and the support of the state," said Lass. "As the home of Frontier's Central Region headquarters, Burnsville is an important part of our continued success." Frontier Communications and the City of Burnsville recently agreed that Frontier would deploy its wireless broadband High-speed wireless transmission of data. What is "high" speed is always a changing number. Wireless systems are typically slower than land-based, wireline networks. In the past, wireless broadband started at 250 Kbps, whereas land-based broadband was generally considered to start at T1 data network service, Frontier Mobile, throughout the city. The agreement allows for scaleable, cost-efficient additions designed to expand network coverage as needed as needed prn. See prn order. . The use of city-owned infrastructure for networks helps ensure maximum coverage within the city. The Burnsville area is one of the Twin Cities' fastest growth areas, and Frontier believes that the new wireless broadband data offering, in addition to Frontier's existing suite of telephone, television and Internet services, will make the city even more attractive to residents and visitors. "If the plans for a performing arts center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. and hotel in the Heart of the City materialize," said Lass, "we think that our wireless offering will be especially welcome and a great way to keep track of all the excitement occurring in 2008 when the Republican Convention comes to the Twin Cities."
