From trash to treasure.


The Puente Hills Puente Hills is a chain of hills in an unincorporated area in eastern Los Angeles County, California. It lies to the south of the San Gabriel Valley and the Pomona Freeway (California State Route 60), to the east of the San Gabriel River Freeway (Interstate 605), to the north of  Landfill Native Habitat Preservation Authority in September unveiled a new trailhead to facilitate public access to 225 acres of property managed on behalf of the landowner, L.A. County Sanitation Districts. The "Hacienda Hills" open space reserve was set aside as mitigation lands after expansion of a nearby landfill, which happens to be the county's largest. Visitors will able to enjoy up to six miles of trails available for hiking, cycling, or other non-motorized recreational uses. ) program supported this project by facilitating a community trail design workshop with a project partner, Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. RTCA also conducted a preliminary trails assessment with the Habitat Authority and developed a trail exhibit for visitor information.
