This issue marks the end of Fathering's first year. I want to take this opportunity to thank the editorial board members for their continued support and involvement. The board members have been extremely responsive to my requests for various types of support, including publicizing pub·li·cize

To give publicity to.

Noun 1. publicizing - the business of drawing public attention to goods and services

 the journal, submitting manuscripts, and conducting reviews of papers. As with any new journal, it takes time to build a pool of reliable and qualified reviewers. The board members have been extraordinarily responsive when I have asked for their help in reviewing papers.

I want to extend a special thanks to the associate editors, Drs. Alan A`lan´

 rate of articles submitted to Fathering. Decisions were made on 28 manuscripts submitted to the journal between March 2002 and August 2003. Of the 28 papers submitted, 13 were rejected, for a rejection rate of 46%. This is a fairly high rejection rate for a new publication. However, we remain committed to publishing only high quality manuscripts and research. We hope to maintain this standard in the years to come.

Finally, I want to give recognition once again to Dr. James Doyle James Doyle can refer to:
  • Jim Doyle, full given name "James Edward", governor of Wisconsin
  • James Edwin Doyle, nickname "Ned", advertising entrepreneur

 for having the vision to start this journal and to the editorial assistant and graduate student, Ms. Elisa Bernd, for her hard work and wonderful organizational skills.
