Jacob A. France Professor of Judicial Process, University of Maryland School of law University of Maryland School of Law is a law school located in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. It is part of the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Established in 1816, it opened in 1823 as the Maryland Law Institute, making it one of the oldest law schools in the country. .

I reply to A.D. Coleman's letter concerning Katherine J. Carver's article on photography and VARA va·ra

 for two reasons. First, his complaint really is that she did not write the article that he wanted written; her paper was about law reform and not about fine art photography. Carver carver /car·ver/ (kahr´ver) a tool for producing anatomic form in artificial teeth and dental restorations.

 did an excellent job on that topic in the limited space of 10,000 words, excellence that was obviously recognized by the editors of this journal. Second, the tone of Coleman's letter is something that would be unusual to find in legal scholarship . I hope that it is not typical of the world of fine art photography.
