This government's Home Office minister is reported to be 'consulting' on passing control of the recording of every e-mail, mobile phone or landline conversation we make into the hands of private contractors.

I see two issues. One, is it right and just that our private thoughts via e-mail or phone should be being recorded by 'them'?

And can 'they' - private or government - be trusted to use any perceived content properly?

I'm all for it.

If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to worry about.

And I dont think 'they' are too concerned with what the general population 'do or think', because the general population is generally well controlled anyway.

The general population is trained to sit in front of the TV and let the people who would control us get on with the job.

Would have agreed with that once upon a time, but not with this government.
