Cathy Seipp's review of the book on Charlton Heston (Oct. 23) does a fine job demonstrating the difficulty of calling Moses a neocon ne·o·con

. Yet her suggestion that Heston was more aligned with libertarian thought suffers from a problem. She writes, "[Hollywood liberals] know that libertarians are for legalized drugs, and against any criticism of bad language or sex in the Hollywood product, so ... great!"

Heston took a strong position on "bad language ... in the Hollywood product" with his pointed criticism of companies that produce and distribute rap music rap music or hip-hop, genre originating in the mid-1970s among black and Hispanic performers in New York City, at first associated with an athletic style of dancing, known as breakdancing.  encouraging cop-killing. I'm not sure where Heston might have placed himself on the political spectrum, but slotting him as a libertarian doesn't work.
