From Philip Belgrave re supposed bias. (Letters to the Editor).A letter from Jim Verreault (C.I., October October: see month. , p.5), charging bias by Father Holmes against the Israeli people--this I find outrageous. "The vast support for Islamic propaganda propaganda, systematic manipulation of public opinion, generally by the use of symbols such as flags, monuments, oratory, and publications. Modern propaganda is distinguished from other forms of communication in that it is consciously and deliberately used to one finds in the secular media these days" is much more than counter-balanced in the media by pro-Jewish and pro-Israeli slanting slant v. slant·ed, slant·ing, slants v.tr. 1. To give a direction other than perpendicular or horizontal to; make diagonal; cause to slope: of far longer duration. Is Father Holmes really putting across, as his main idea, that the Israelis are typically cruel, and the Arabs brave?) What continues to impress me most about these Middle East affairs is certainly not "the vast support for Islamic propaganda one finds in the secular media these days." Here, Mr. Verreault clearly reveals his own pro-Israeli bias. I am greatly impressed im·press 1 tr.v. im·pressed, im·press·ing, im·press·es 1. To affect strongly, often favorably: , and indeed alarmed and apprehensive, due to what I have perceived of pro-Jewish and pro-Israeli propaganda continuously over several decades. I believe that no other political propaganda in our time has been as powerful and unscrupulous. Ottawa, ON |
