FROM LUCY TO LANGUAGE

DONALD JOHANSON Donald Carl Johanson (born June 28, 1943 in Chicago) is an American paleoanthropologist. Along with Maurice Taieb, Yves Coppens and Tim White, he is well known for the discovery of the skeleton of the female hominid australopithecine known as "Lucy", in the Afar Triangle of  AND BLAKE EDGAR Edgar or Eadgar (both: ĕd`gər), 943?–975, king of the English (959–75), son of Edmund, king of Wessex. In 957 the Mercians and Northumbrians rebelled against Edgar's brother Edwy and chose Edgar as their king.

Details of human origins have come largely from the efforts of scientists using the methods of paleoanthropology, an interdisciplinary field that combines geology, biology, and the social sciences. With this approach, scientists can examine the fossil record in several different ways to piece together the lives of ancient people. Johanson, the paleontologist who discovered the Lucy skeleton in Ethiopia, and science writer Edgar review the human-fossil record and detail how scientists developed and continue to refine their understanding of the lineage from our ancestors Our Ancestors (Italian: I Nostri Antenati) is the name of Italo Calvino's "heraldic trilogy" that comprises The Cloven Viscount (1952), The Baron in the Trees (1957), and The Nonexistent Knight (1959).  6 to 7 million years ago to modern Homo sapiens. A detailed introduction reviews the central issues in paleoanthropology, including how the evolution of people has been different from that of other organisms, the process of recovering early human remains, and the way that fossils are dated. Johanson and Edgar describe humans' emigration emigration: see immigration; migration.  from Africa and how the various aspects of human culture have developed. The latter portion of the book is dedicated to the human-fossil record, including that of pre-Australopithecines, Australopithecines, and Homo species. Simon & Schuster Simon & Schuster
