From Brian Anderson re translation of the Roman Missal.

Just a short note to let you know that Michael Gilchrist's article on the new translation is encouraging, although I am a little concerned that the NRSV (New Revised Standard Version) is still going to be used. For example, will "adelphoi" be translated by the acceptable "brothers"/ "brethren" or by "brothers and sisters"? Will the Psalm 8/Hebrews 2 Christological window be reopened? I do hope that Liturgiam Authenticam is faithfully followed. The NRSV is a "femonic" designer bible that our bishops have continued to use, ten years after the CDF criticized it. Even today, if you visit the CCCB website, you will see the NRSV lectionary warmly praised. Is the spirit of the Winnipeg Letter still alive and well among Canada's bishops? A few years ago I sent an e-mail to the CCCB liturgy office recommending an RSV-based lectionary. A raw nerve was struck. Immediately, I received a nasty reply recommending that I allow the "spirit" into my life.

It is wonderful to see that Catholic Insight is firmly rooted in the "terra firma" of authentic Catholic faith, morals and discipline, in my judgement, Catholic Insight fulfills the directives of Inter Mirifica, and the organic growth directive of Sacrosanctum Concilium 23. You have the courage not to board that rudderless ship mis-christened the "Spirit of Vatican II."
