Frogs arrive.


A CHARITY is leaping into action to raise awareness about the plight of frogs and toads.

Large amounts of frogspawn, which may soon be appearing in ponds and lakes, should be left alone as the chance of eggs surviving is very low and tadpoles are a vital food source for other animals.

Officers say frogs are becoming more common in gardens as the number of wild ponds dwindles, but the creatures are helpful to gardeners as they eat slugs, woodlice and ants.

The best time to see them is after dark.
