Froch: Joe is one of best.


It appears that British super-middle champion Carl Froch Carl Froch (born 2 July 1977, Nottingham) is an English super-middleweight boxer. He is unbeaten in 21 professional fights, winning all but 4 of his fights by knockout, earning himself the nickname "The Cobra." He is 6'1".  has, on reaching 30, acquired a degree of maturity.

After years of slagging off Joe Calzaghe Joe Calzaghe (born 23 March, 1972 in Hammersmith, London England) is a Welsh boxer of Italian and Welsh descent, who is nicknamed "The Pride of Wales". He currently lives in Cwmbran, Wales, and is one of the pound for pound top 10 boxers in the world according to the Ring Magazine. , the Nottingham man, who defends against former Calzaghe victim Robin Reid Robin Reid (born February 19, 1971 in Sefton, England) is a British boxer, who won the Light Middleweight Bronze medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics for Great Britain. Professional career  next Friday, has decided he might as well be honest and pay the Welshman his dues.

"Joe's record as champion has to make him one of the best," says Froch. "Obviously in boxing you goad your opponents and try to touch a nerve. But I've a lot of respect for Calzaghe and what he's achieved."

Froch's promoter, Mick Hennessy, put back the Reid fight, originally due for last night, so that his man could call out the Calzaghe-Kessler winner. But Froch seems to accept that his dream bout will never happen, with Joe talking of moving up to light-heavy.

"It's a shame, because it would be a great fight for British boxing," he said. "But I'll just have to look elsewhere for my world title chance."
