Freudenberg to enter U.S. auto interior filter business.

Freudenberg Nonwovens' "Micron-Air" passenger compartment fresh air filters have been chosen by Ford Motor Company as standard equipment in that manufacturer's "world car" compact automobile scheduled for 1994 production. The Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique, known as the Mondeo in Europe, will be the first domestically produced passenger vehicle to offer an advanced performance cabin air filtration system as original equipment.

Freudenberg, based in Chelmsford, MA, will manufacture the filters at its Hopkinsville, KY plant. The company has already been heavily involved in this market in Europe through its Freudenberg Group parent company in Germany.
