United Mileage Plus announced it will offer Short Haul Saver Awards through the end of the year: award flights up to 700 miles each way on United, United Express and Ted for 15,000 miles, rather than the normal 25,000 miles. And through March 15, 2007, United is committing to allocating "a percentage of Saver Award seats on every flight to every international and domestic United destination." United Mileage Plus

United Mileage Plus members will redeem more miles for many awards for award travel booked on or after October 16, and will pay new fees for awards ticketed within 14 days of departure. Among the award-price changes, business-class domestic Saver awards will increase from 40,000 to 45,000 miles, and Standard (i.e., unrestricted) coach and business-class domestic awards will increase by 10,000 miles, to 50,000 and 90,000 miles respectively.
