Delta SkyMiles

Beginning January 1, 2005, Delta has made a number of changes to its elite program, including the following:Increased the number of elite- qualifying miles (EQMs) awarded on deeply discounted economy fares (L, T, U) from 50 percent to 100 percent of actually flown miles. With the change, all eligible discounted coach fares (H, Q, K, S, L, U, T) will earn 100 percent of actual flown miles, or 500 miles, whichever is greater, as both award miles and EQMs. Decreased from 200 percent to 150 percent the percentage of EQMs earned for first/business class. Again, the change does away with the discrepancy DISCREPANCY. A difference between one thing and another, between one writing and another; a variance. (q.v.)
     2. Discrepancies are material and immaterial.
between EQM EQM External Quality Monitoring (customer evaluation of service received)
EQM Environmental Quality Management (Cincinnati, OH)
EQM Elite Qualifying Miles (United Airlines Mileage Plus)
and award-mile earning rates. Decreased the minimum number of EQMs awarded for short flights from 750 to 500 miles. Other elite changes:The requirement to reach Platinum Medallion status decreased from 100,000 to 75,000 miles. This change was clearly to maintain parity parity or space parity, in physics, quantity that refers to the relationship between an object or process and the image that it can produce in a mirror.  with Continental and Northwest, which are co-partners with Delta in the SkyTeam alliance. All elite members can now upgrade at the time of booking when purchasing full-Y fares (Y, B, M). The unlimited complimentary domestic upgrades from discounted coach fares is now confirmable up to five days in advance for Platinum members, three days in advance for Gold members, and one day in advance for Silver members. (Replaces the current multi- tiered, hour-based upgrade schedule.) The changes are detailed at http://delta.com/skymileschanges
