French envoy opens international expo on environmental issues awareness.
ISLAMABAD, October 02, 2009 (Balochistan Times): An International
Expo on Environmental issues opened here Friday with Ambassador of
France Daniel Jouanneau Daniel Jouanneau (Born-September 15, 1946) is the current French Ambassador to Canada, after being appointed to the position in 2004.
Holding his Masters Degree in Law, Jouanneau previously served as Ambassador to Lebanon, Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland. as Chief Guest. The exhibition has been titled
as The earths future in our hands and it has been organised by Pakistan
Science Foundation, a subsidiary of ministry of Science and Technology,
in collaboration with the Embassy of France at Islamabad Model College Islamabad Model College is a chain of Colleges in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is categorized by Boys and Girls Colleges [1]. Establishment of these colleges dating back to 1966 [2], although some of these colleges are under construction. for Girls (IMCG IMCG International Mire Conservation Group (Germany) ), F-7/4. The target audience of the expo are mainly
students falling in the age bracket of 12 years to 20 years, however,
the parents and teachers of the young students would also participate in
the events. Federal Minister for Science and Technology Mohammed Azam

Swati presided over the exhibition which was inaugurated by the
French envoy. The exhibition, which is a part of PSFs science promotion
activities and celebration of National Year of Environment 2009, would
be on display daily from 9am to 4pm at IMCG. The expo is aimed at
raising awareness Raising awareness is a common phrase advocacy groups use to justify a particular event, brochure or even the entire organization. Raising awareness refers to alerting the general public that a certain issue exists and should be approached the way the group desires. among students of the urgency to act if we are to save
our earth for our future generations from environmental hazards. The
focus of the expo is structured around three major themes - Living with
our environment, Tomorrows consumption and production , and Responsible
sharing of resources. The expo has already travelled to a number of
countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America Latin America, the Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. , and it would be
held in four major cities of the country including Islamabad,
Abbottabad, Sukkur and Multan. The PSF has invited schools and colleges
to visit the exhibition while it has designated alternate days for boys
and girl students so as the students could make maximum use of the ample
opportunity that came to their way in a peaceful, secure and cordial
atmosphere.
